August Events
BBBS held their Annual picnic on August 7, at Round Top Park in Athens Township. Kali Wakefield, a student from Athens Area High School completed her senior project by organizing the event. There were games and activities for the Bigs & Littles to participate in, as well as some great food to eat!
Aleah's Style on the Mile hosted a Back To School Style Day on August 21. Stylist were provided new looks for some of our Little Sisters by giving them haircuts, manicures & pedicures.
Recent Fundraisers:
The 16th Annual Motorcycle Rally was held on June 5th. 132 riders on 96 bikes rode to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The 17th Annual Golf Tournament was held at the Towanda Country Club on July 13th. Thanks to individuals and companies who golfed, purchased ads, sponsored holes and donated time & items the event raised approximately $11,000 for BBBS.
PR & Recruitment
Have you seen us
in the paper or heard people talking about us? Lots of efforts
have been made lately to spread the word about BBBS. We continue
to be on the radio and have had numerous articles in the local
papers. We ask
all of you to pass the BBBS message to those in your circle
and friends, to your relatives, and to groups. We would like
to be able to match all of the waiting Littles and to involve
children that would like a mentor in our program! Thank you
